Barbara Ann (Goethals) Van Voast February 23, 1948 – March 2, 2022 Barbara was born in Detroit, Michigan and has passed away after many, many medical procedures and complications. She finally is out of pain and resting in peace with the wind at her back. For 50 years she lived with her husband Steve, raised a family, traveled the world and enjoyed life. A few of those trips were Europe 3 times, Ireland, Alaska, Hawaii, Caribbean and practically every ski slope in the US and Austria. Barbara grew up in Northern Michigan and was on the Petoskey High School Ski Team where she graduated. She was considered an extremely accomplished skier and always skied the double Black Diamond Mountains. Barbara lived her life to the fullest on the Loxahatchee River and her summers in Harbor Springs, Michigan. If she wasn't restoring antique furniture she was in the garden weeding and planting. In 1980, Barbara found her dream job and started working for the Loxahatchee Historical Society located on the Jupiter Inlet at the Coast Guard Station. She also worked at Pinders Fish Market and was PR secretary for Abacoa Development. Barbara is survived by her husband Steve Van Voast; son Adrian Van Voast; daughterin-law Becca Van Voast; two brothers, Larry and Mark Goethals; two grandchildren Tyler Van Voast and Ashley Van Voast. Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter Michelle MacIness Klein; sister Nancy Goggins; and parents Albert and Nancy Goethals. Barbara was loved by everyone and will always be missed. She had a certain way about her that you just wanted to hold and have a little piece of her. One of her favorite quotes "Don't worry, every little thing is going to be alright" by Bob Marley In lieu of flowers, any donations would be greatly appreciated by Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, FL. Celebration of Life will be announced soon. (Posted online on March 06, 2022 by The Palm Beach Post) |
