Sharon Thompson, Oct. 30, 1948 – June 21, 2022

Sharon Sue Thompson, 73, of Allen, Texas, went to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 while bravely battling cancer.

She was born in Petoskey, MI on October 30, 1948, the daughter to the late Ben (Benjamin) and Eleanor Thompson Fochtman (Rae).

She absolutely loved living the retired life. She enjoyed being outdoors where she spent her time growing her own herbs, planting flowers and doing her own landscaping. This was truly her happy place. She would spend her evenings sitting on her back porch listening to the birds and feeding the bunnies. She was an animal lover, and this brought her such joy and peace.

She was quite handy around the house too. She did everything herself from pouring concrete to doing woodworking. She built her own cabinets, installed marble flooring and even built a gate for her fence. If something broke, she would figure out how to fix it.

She loved cooking and one of her greatest passions was baking. Everything she made was from scratch and she quickly became known as the Cake Lady at the Allen Fire Department. Their relationship began about 12 years ago during her first round of cancer and has been ongoing ever since. She baked them cakes and other homemade goodies as a token of her appreciation for all that they did for her.

She enjoyed spending time with family doing dinners together, playing board games and celebrating one another. Sharon was part of several ladies' groups that attended lunches & dinners together, gathered at each other's homes for various events, and went to symphonies and festivals together.

Sharon loved to laugh and was a little silly, incredibly loyal, quite witty, and a tad bit feisty...she would tell you it was because of her red hair. And, if you asked her about her birthday, well, she would tell you she came in on a broom. She didn't miss an opportunity to poke a little fun at something, including herself. She would be the first to tell you that life's too short to take it too seriously.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Tonia Perez (Jose), her son Mark Thompson (Wendy), sister Merilee Walter (Bob) of Michigan and family, sister Nancy Nelson (John) of South Carolina and family, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Sharon was preceded in death by her mother Eleanor Thompson Fochtman (Rae), her father Ben Thompson, brother Benjie Thompson, and daughter Patty Morris.
